Hey Maria...how did the bristol work for you as far as the watercolors? I did a piece for the good vs. evil, and I used watercolor on illustration board- it was a nightmare. Every time I tried to layer a wash, the wash beneath it would almost always come up...is that a bristol problem too, or was it ok? I'd like to come away with more hair after my next watercolor than I did with that last piece=)

Are you using smooth or vellum? I almost always use vellum (textured), and haven't noticed that problem. My washes are also really thin on this, and I alternate between watercolor and colored pencil layers. Also, the best surface I've found for pure watercolor is lightweight illustration board by Strathmore, you might want to give it a try.
